Château de Rochemorin White 2021

Presentation

Presentation
The whites from Château de Rochemorin are astonishing wines. They reveal a particular expression of the Sauvignon grape variety, with its notes of citrus fruit and flowers, finely wooded. Carefully controlled barrel ageing on the lees does not leave its mark on the wines, but enhances the richness of the palate and supports a remarkable range of aromas.
The vintage
2021 was marked by very capricious weather. There was a lot of rain in the spring. An episode of frost at the beginning of April caused major damage. The summer was very mild, with no extreme heat. At the end of August, fine weather set in, with high temperatures during the day and cool nights: ideal conditions for ripening the grapes. These last few weeks were crucial to the success of this vintage.

5 to 10 years
Tasting
Attractive pale yellow colour.
Beautiful intensity on the nose, with delicious notes of nectarine and apricot. Slight hints of vanilla add deliciousness. Aromas of lemon zest are also perceptible, adding complexity to the whole.
The attack is full of freshness, followed by a lovely mid-palate. Delicate citrus notes accompany us throughout. The balance between richness and freshness is particularly well achieved. A lingering finish.
Food pairings
Scallops, scampi with mayonnaise, grilled fish.

Reviews

90-92/100
"From Jacques Lurton and family, this has a nose of powdered chalk, lemon, toasted almond, waxed apple and herb. The palate feels fresh, pithy, rather weighty, and initially it feels a little subdued, but through the middle it shows real polish, a sinewy substance, and a fresh acidity to drive it forwards. It concludes with a bright and minerally note, with a wash of rather pointed acidity. "

"It's the sister property to Cruzeau and comparable quality. Displayed a nose of green apple and acacia flower, crispy taste, fresh, nice acidity, lively, fine structure and caressing finish."
