Château de Barbe Blanche Red 2021

Presentation

Presentation
At Château de Barbe Blanche, the word "terroir" takes on its full meaning. Situated in the heart of the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, the vineyard is planted on a plateau of asteriated limestone, typical of the Saint-Émilion region. This rock provides ideal conditions and contributes to the high quality of its wines. The wine is full-bodied on the mid-palate, with a mellow tannic structure, roundness and hints of lightly toasted fruit. It is a fine, elegant wine with good ageing potential.
The vintage
2021 was marked by very capricious weather. There was a lot of rain in the spring. An episode of
frost at the beginning of April caused major damage. The summer was very mild, with no extreme
heat. At the end of August, fine weather set in, with high temperatures during the day and cool nights: ideal conditions for ripening the grapes. These last few weeks were crucial to the success
of this vintage.

Tasting
A beautiful ruby-red colour.
Delicious and fruity are the two words that best define the nose of this Château de Barbe Blanche 2021. The aromas of black fruit (blackcurrant, plum) and red fruit (cherry, strawberry) that rise from the glass are intense. Subtle notes of vanilla and liquorice add an extra touch of deliciousness.
The attack is frank. The mid-palate has good volume and sweetness. Crisp tannins follow through to the finish. This is a wine that will be a pleasure to drink.
Food pairings
Pan-fried mushrooms (ceps), fondue bourguignonne, brochettes of duck breast with beans.
