Château de Cruzeau Red 2023

Presentation

Presentation
Château de Cruzeau is situated on superb gravelly hilltops, perfectly oriented, and benefits from ideal natural conditions for growing vines. Its red wines are always fine and elegant, the perfect expression of the exceptional terroir of Pessac-Léognan. Delicately spicy, with notes of truffle and undergrowth, these modern, charming wines are particularly well-balanced, with freshness, a lovely structure and delicious fruit aromas.
The vintage
2023 was marked by a uniform start to vegetation: bud-break dates returned to normal, foliage developed rapidly and the bunches emerged beautifully. Heavy rainfall in the spring tarnished the start of the season somewhat, with mildew appearing in places. There was no hot summer in 2023, but relatively cool nights and warm but not excessively hot days in July and August created ideal ripening conditions for the grapes, which produced remarkable aromatic potential.

"Bright vibrant violet and blackcurrant fruit. The assemblage in 2023 is almost the exact opposite of the 2022 - a legacy as Jacques says, of the sheer quality of Cabernet in this vintage. Lovely vibrant cassis and raspberry fruit flavours. Good depth and length. (Tasted en primeur)
