Presentation
At Château de Barbe Blanche, the word "terroir" takes on its full meaning. Situated in the heart of the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, the vineyard is planted on a plateau of asteriated limestone, typical of the Saint-Émilion region. This rock provides ideal conditions and contributes to the high quality of its wines. The wine is full-bodied on the mid-palate, with a mellow tannic structure, roundness and hints of lightly toasted fruit. It is a fine, elegant wine with good ageing potential.
The vintage
2022 was a particularly atypical year due to extreme weather conditions. ln addition to a very early frost in the spring, which affected the vineyard just as the vines were starting to bud, there was a long period of exceptional drought from May until the end of September. The result was low yields and a perfect state of health at harvest time throughout the vineyard.
Terroir
On a clay-limestone shelf with about 1 meter of clay on the surface. At the foot of the hills, clay-siliceous soil with light sand.

Tasting
Intense, deep garnet-red colour with delicate purple highlights.
The complex nose combines aromas of ripe black fruit, such as black cherry and blackberry, with hints of red fruit, such as strawberry. These fruity notes are enriched by an elegant woodiness, with hints of vanilla and fine spices adding depth to the olfactory profile.
The attack is full and round, underpinned by silky tannins that melt gently into the finish. Persistent freshness enhances the structure and gives this wine a long finish. It also has good ageing potential.
