Château La Louvière has many fascinating facets. The sumptuous architecture of the château building dates from the late 18th century, but winegrowing here goes back more than 700 years. The first vines were planted circa 1310, although modern winemaking dates from the 17th century and was handed down by able monks from the Carthusian monastery in Bordeaux, who had acquired considerable talent as viticulturists and winemakers. The people who produce the wine in the 21st century have inherited these time-honoured methods, adding just the right amount of innovation and modernity to make the utmost of the outstanding terroir. The vintage
The weather in 2024 was extreme, with heavy rainfall, lack of sunshine and cool temperatures, making the fight against vine diseases particularly difficult. After a somewhat difficult flowering period with some coulure, a more favourable period in August allowed the grapes to change colour evenly, followed by a rapid harvest in September to preserve the quality of the grapes. This vintage marks a return to normal harvest dates.

The nose is fresh and expressive, marked by aromas of red and black fruits. Spicy notes and a subtle hint of liquorice add complexity to the aromatic profile. The oak remains discreet and integrates harmoniously, allowing the fruit to express itself with precision.
On the palate, the wine charms with its freshness and a slight tension that brings energy and definition. The mid-palate gains in breadth and presence, while the fruit-driven character carries through consistently to the finish. A precise structure supports a long and balanced finish.

"A rich and concentrated nose, really vivid colours and super expressive aromatically. Ripe blackcurrants and plums. Sleek and refined with blue fruit and quite prominent liquorice and cola flavours. This has a certain density, fruit intensity, and plushness thanks to slightly full but fine tannins which provide a full mouthfeel as well as a hit of sweet fruit balanced by just-ripe fruit. A lovely combination that will be very enjoyable after ageing. Feels elegant and classy still with muscles. Not overdone. (Tasted en Primeur)
